I had the honour of meeting little baby Khyran- a wonderfully joyful soul that captured my heart right away… and my lens! It truly is a special and meaningful treat for me to be able to take images in a documentary style for families- it seems SO much more authentic, intimate, and real.
Whenever I step into someone’s home for the first time for a lifestyle session, I look around the home and see what areas speak to me regarding light and storytelling. For this home, there was interesting light coming from the back door in the kitchen!
Interesting fact- certain items in a household add to the story of a family’s life. Even though I may remove some distracting elements, normal everyday objects in pulled back images allows me to freeze how you were in that point in time- what a beautiful and cool thing that is!
The next little area I explored was the adorable little baby room. Their character home was FILLED with unique little corners and there was such an interesting layout as well! Little pockets of light allowed for images with a lot of interesting quirks and character- something I really love for artistic flare!
I really LOVE only utilizing objects and blankets for the photos that the family owns. It is So much more impactful having your own items- another reason why I do not take newborn images in a studio or bring any props with me! It is my goal to utilize what is important to you in every image! Check out this adorable shot of baby and mom!
Isn’t he adorable? Here are some close up shots of his precious feet and hands- because that’s a MUST! And yes- I am a sucker for black and white and always will be!
We spent quite a bit of time in Khryan’s room since it seemed to be the area with the most heart and joy! Keep scrolling for some sweet lovely moments!
And if there is a dog in your home I can’t leave without snapping a photo! All in all, I LOVE these kinds of sessions more than I could possibly say. I love photographing real life and documenting memories that a family can cherish forever!
Congratulations Genny + Marcus! Your little one is amazing!
With love, Schae <3
